cautions for re-hiding developer options setting

I am considering resetting animation speed to 0.5 in the developer options settings to make things seems snappier speedier. Any cautions for doing so? After done, I want to re-hide the developer options setting so I don't accidentally go in there; it says to do so by 'clearing data' in the settings app within the apps settings which sounds scarey, but it says it will only hide the developer options and not wipe out one's accounts etc. With Verizon. Any experiences?

It reminds me of when we used to root and over/underclock device's, resulting in burn out etc. Animations speeds are set by Samsung for a reason!

OP,

just go in there, set the animations to your taste then boom. done. just leave DEV options alone because you may want to go in there and change it back.

you can't "ACCIDENTALLY" go in there unless you ACTUALLY navigate into it, and you will know you are in there.

i, and many others, have it set to .05. i used to have it turned OFF on other phones, but this time around .05 is a good sweet spot.

there are no CONS, just adjust to taste and walk away. don't clear cache or anything...

Agreed. You would have to purposefully go into developer options and pick something to change it. Not something that will happen by accident. It's all the way at the bottom too so not sure why that would be scary to leave there. Just don't go there.
I also use .05 and have not noticed anything weird happen.

I heard certain apps and other could be impacted, compromised by the lower=faster animation setting, but posters above say not so ?
What does each of the animation settings do? Window? Transition? Animator? Speed up them all, or just a subset ?

you are welcome to search the internet for more info on what those options do sir. takes seconds. ;)

some apps may animate and use those settings to do so.

if you want to enable the .05 settings to test your user experience (buzzword iphone users use often) with your apps, then go right ahead and do so.

if you dont like the experience, revert back to the stock setting. this is why you should keep dev options open and just leave it alone.

Perhaps a distinction between animation scale 0.5 and 0.0 in terms of app etc compromise, or not ?
I wonder if Verizon allows access to the developer settings ?

Hi Leob,

Thanks for responding.

You posted with a query about .5 or .05, you thought it was .5 and I responded in an attempt to clarify by saying it was .5 on my HTC M9 and included a screenshot of the appropriate Developer Options page and ended with a 'Smiley face'.

Both your query and my response have been removed, unless there is another almost identical thread somewhere which includes those two posts.

:)

  1. Open Settings
  2. Select Apps
  3. Swipe from right to left to see ALL apps
  4. Tap Settings
  5. Select Clear data
  6. Once you return to Settings. Developer options should no longer be visible
Have my Nobel Prize for brilliance ready

:D

Seems like this is not a good idea as will clear data, settings, accounts, So just live with the developer app in the settings but can toggle within it, so nothing accidentally altered just in case

DEV options are the same across android.

yes you can open the dev options on your VZW device.

why dont you activate the DEV options and test ?

I will activate the DEV options and test, but I wanted to acquire the wisdom & experience of forum members to inform first as my preference

Thank you tommo47. Yes, I believe it is 0.5 not 0.05.
