I cannot find the serial number

I am trying to fix a softbricked GS5 from straight talk verizon network. The model number is SM-S903VL(GP) under the battery. It then procedes to list the FCC ID and IMEI but no serial number at all. So I can not use Kies or Smart Connect to fix the device.

A stock Odin rom would be acceptable too.

The phone begins to boot but complains that it has an error. I have to leave the battery out of the phone for upwards of an hour before I can boot it again. I can go into ODIN mode. I have tried various firmware files but it then errors out or something, forcing me to wait another hour before I can boot the device and try again.

The phone is going to a 14 year old who got a virus on the device, I am trying to reflash stock rom with Odin.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums Jewish Person :D

Here are 4 ways to locate the serial # of a Galaxy S5...

How To Find IMEI And Serial Number On Samsung Galaxy S5

@Jfalls63 thank you so much I will give this a try, it looks like what I am looking for. It is a straight talk phone. I know they lock the sim card so you cant just take it to cricket. I assume that's the reason.

@ironass It is bricked and it did not come with a serial number on the box or under the battery they don't want you to fix it, they want you to buy a new device.

I will let you know in an hour if it works, I think I used a wrong version of odin, so I have to go through with each version for samsung phones, I am thinking of buying my family better more hackable devices. What is the easiest phone to reset in case of emergency like this? I am ok with phones as old as the galaxy S5, I will search ebay and the like. I am just sick of this, both the Note 5 and the Galaxy S5 got a virus which softlocked the devices and I got the note 5 working but the GS5 seems to be giving me a headache. We kind of want to stick with Android for the money we have invested in the apps.

I have said it before and I'll say it again.... "I really hate the way that U.S. carriers cripple their phones and make life difficult for their customers!"

See #1.11 of 42 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide for instructions, downloads and video on how to flash firmware via Odin.

@ironass Yeah I think it is time for another device. I found something out, there is a boot loader count, that if it is making me wait an hour to boot each time, then it will not take another flash. Also this was running a hybrid Android or some other OS entirely. It had the touchwiz ui but it was NOT Android. At least not as I knew it. It ran apps but at a very limited experience. The phone was for a 14 year old girl, 12 at the time I bought it from Walmart. She complained it would not run YouTube and I could never quite figure it out. Then both my Note 5 and her GS5 got similar viruses recently so it was definitely running Android. I flashed my Note 5 back to stock and BAM everything worked hunky dory, about an hour of digging and it worked! But this GS5 has been really difficult to get the stock rom for. It had the Walmart App which was LOCKED on there, Straight talk bloat apps, but there was no Play Store. It had this wonky 3rd party store. I can't recall the name. I think it was the Samsung one. 2 days is enough monkeying with this, my time is worth more than $100, I will either buy another one of these or something different

@Jfalls63 it did not work but thank you, I am going to buy her another device and use this screen on another S5 I have.

Thank you guys for your time.

Sorry it didn't work out. Best to avoid Straight Talk and AT&T branded Samsung devices if possible for availability of firmware. Learned my lesson the hard way. Strictly unlocked and unbranded is the way to go.

Just for information purposes... the S903VL model for Straight Talk is no longer a bona fide Samsung supported phone as Wal-Mart bought the rights to it some time ago and took over the warranty and updating.
