Samsung makes pretty good phones. Usually. But a lot of their other stuff leaves much to be desired.
Our Samsung TV (a large and rather expensive 4K UHD TV) has had an input fault for TWO MONTHS - for the first 3 weeks Samsung and Assurant pointed fingers at each other over who was responsible for repairs under our Extended Protection Plan (which clearly reads "for repairs call 800-SAMSUNG")... then Samsung finally sent out a OneConnect box with an accompanying email that literally reads:
"Samsung has given a one-time accommodation to cover the Parts on service transaction."
Thanks for the favor, Samsung! Oh, I can't tell you how I'm gushing over your generous gift of parts for our broken TV that's under extended warranty!
Well, the OneConnect box didn't fix the issue, which led us into the video control module and the motherboard. Three different Samsung reps assured me that the repair order was sent out to my local repair center... but repeated calls to them revealed that no order was ever sent. Finally, FINALLY I got a Samsung rep who actually took ownership of the problem, and sent the repair order out. Tech came out on November 2nd, looked at the problem and ordered the parts. I got the call on Tuesday the 6th that the parts had finally come in, and he'll be out here tomorrow the 10th.
Part of me hopes those parts don't work either, he'll mark the TV "beyond economical repair", force Samsung to refund our money (like they had to with our fridge), and we'll buy a newer bigger better TV.
