My Son was killed in a motorcycle accident. His Galaxy S7 was so damaged it is inoperable. Local Verizon lady pulled out the "sim" card, told me to but another galaxy 7 and insert card. She said all info would be on new phone. I'm wanting to access his pictures but need to know if this will work before I buy the phone. Thank you

Sorry to hear about your loss.

I would imagine you mean an sd card and not a sim card. Because a sim doesn't hold any info besides phone numbers.

If you're trying to access his pictures and files, you could just put the sd into any phone and see the file, no need to buy a new phone for that.
Or you could get an sd card reader and plug it into a computer.

The only reason i could think of as to why they would tell you to buy a new phone is because they don't know what they're talking about or because they make a percentage of the sale!

A bochur, Thank you. I'm not sure which card I have. The "slide out" holds 2 cards on this phone, the inner most card that is smaller is the only one that was inside. Is that a sim or a sd?

Forgot to mention that an sd card will only have pictures on it if your son set it as a destination for the pictures. Which is what most people would do, but it's possible he didn't.

Thank you again. You have educated me on the different card types. As there was no sd card installed, I am left to believe that there must be an internal storage that only a smart phone specialist can possibly extract the photos from. I will pursue that avenue next week. Thank you for your time.

Don't want to dash your hopes but the chances of your average phone expert being able to extract data from internal memory are pretty small, because phone manufacturers make sure it's inaccessible.
Do you by any chance know your son's Google account password? Cuz with that info you can go to photos.Google.Com and his pictures might be there
