Split screen not supported on Redmi Note 4

Had my Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 for eight months and love it. The only problem is that Xiaomi take a long time to release updates. Now MIUI 9 has arrived I find that the split screen is not supported by my global version. Is there any way I can get this?

MIUI 9 is supposed to be able to do split screen, which is a 7.x Nougat feature of Android.

Was your Redmi definitely updated to MIUI 9(Android 7.x)?

Yes, it definitely updated to that but I think the split screen will only work on the Chinese version
