How to unroot a phone that isn't rooted?

Hi,

I have an app that claims my phone is rooted but it actually isn't so is there an app that can remove or spoof it as unrooted?

I honestly wouldn't mind if my phone (Geotel Note 4G) was rooted but can't be bothered to go through the procedure (backup my files, download the files needed, connect to a PC, etc).

Thanks!

Either your phone is rooted or it isn't. Try confirming that with root checker.

What app is it that's stating it's rooted? Maybe it's just misinformed, or there's some other issue with it like device compatibility?
I'm rooted and can hide most things from root. But there's one credit card app which can't be hidden from the root settings. It always gives me the rooted message but if I scroll down past the bit that says it don't work with root, it also says it won't work if you've got a third party keyboard on your phone. It could be other things that are making that message pop up.

Quite frankly it sounds like that bank or other financial institution done their job of securing their app properly. After all one can hide keyloggers and other nasties on a rooted device.

Something I just noticed the OP's phone, a Geotel Note. That's an unknown China phone sold cheapo online, and shipped from Shenzhen. Well anything is possible with some of those things, like it comes rooted, or has included malware.

True but they're forcing me to use a PC that although I do, they don't know I have any security. I can even use their site on the browser on my phone, which the app won't work on. Anyways let's not get sidetracked lol

Could be that it isn't rooted, but your whatever it is app possibly doesn't know what to make of your Geotel Note China phone. Maybe it's just got it wrong? Maybe it's not an approved and/or compatible device? Try emailing the app's developers about it?
