How To Make Google Photos My Default & How To Access

I want to be able to use my Google Photos to insert a picture for my contacts. The only way the Galaxy Note 8 lets you put in is if they are in your Gallery or Samsung Cloud. That means that every person you have to take a picture of and save on your phone. That isn't going to happen. I used to be able on my Samsung S5 to use photos when putting a picture into my contacts. Does anyone know how I can make Google Photos be accessible when I call up a contact to insert a photo. The same question applies to my wallpaper. I want to use Google Photos to be accessible to make as my wallpaper. That option isn't there in Wallpaper. Can anyone offer any assistance?

Maybe if you root you can change this. Seems like its the way it is.

You can copy the photos over to the samsung gallery —an extra step but a workaround.

if you are using google photos and you have the google photo app syncing to the cloud,

you open up/tap on the photo you want.

if its ON THE CLOUD and NOT on the phone, tap the 3 vertical dots top right. you should see "save to device". tap that.

if the photo is stored locally on the device, you should be able to access it from your samsung gallery.
