Phone app crashes

Everytime I try to search for a contact to call or text using the phone app, it freezes and then crashes. I have already tried resetting the device several times with a fresh install of Android Oreo and it doesn't make a difference. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Have you tried uninstalling updates for the Phone app?

You can do this at Settings > Apps & notifications > All apps > Phone > Disable. Disable the app, it will uninstall any update, you can then re-enable it to see if that helps.
