Help Wireless charging problems

I've searched ad nauseam about this and can't find a solution. Wireless charging just plum doesn't work for me. Bought note 8 from Sammy directly (note 7 deal) and 2 months in, dead pixels. Samsung premium care sent me new phone albeit wrong color (whole other issue) restored everything and wireless charging suddenly doesn't work. Boot into safe mode, still no worky. No case. Factory reset, light came on charger to indicate charging, not actually charging though. Using the free convertible in deal and one from note 7 days. Both fast chargers with og power blocks and cables. Tried again next day, light on charger(s) won't even come on half of the time. Downloaded Ampere app to check mah and was very low when it decided to work if at all. Hovering around 200-300. Called premium care, this time, they needed to see phone was in transit before overnighting another one. This one came, obviously a refurb, no new box, cables etc. No big deal. Orchard gray one again! Ugh. Color is growing on me, no big deal. Same problems. Seems like there is a setting I'm using or an app misbehaving after smart switch restore so again factory reset, still no worky. Went to Verizon store, tried on Verizon branded charger, light came on, still hovering around 200 mah. Went home, same as Verizon store, next day no light. Tried to position perfectly on convertible, horizontal on other one etc. No worky. Cleared cache, safe mode, factory reset, no go. What are the chances I get two in a row that don't work? Has to be something. Any new Ideas? Haven't tried daydream mode yet. Not sure what that is even, but I'll figure it out after work today.
 
the phone is defective. you already state in your opening dialogue that you received a refurb, and after trying the phone on different chargers and factory resetting, there's nothing left to do.

to answer your question on if its possible to receive two faulty refurbs in a row, the answer is YES! it happens.

here's a dumb question: how does WIRED charging work? :thinking:
 
I have tried turning on/off wireless charging. Even tried with it off (I believe it will still wirelessly charge slowly)

Charges wired like a champ. It would be nice for it to work, just got a new truck with wireless charging. They're sending me another prepaid postage today. Have to take it to fed ex, then they'll overnight me a new one after they see it's in transit. Hopefully it'll be a black one this time!
 
So I waited for the holidays to pass to avoid the inevitable shipping logjam. Sent it in after trying various fixes and workarounds. Received another refurb in exchange (this one black!) Works like a charm. Everything is operating as advertised. Wireless charging like a champ. I really did receive two straight defective replacements from Samsung Premium care insurer Assurion. Wow. What a coincidence. Love the device. Little disappointed in Samsung but I finally have what I wanted all along. Thanks for your suggestions, but put this in your memory banks. It charges wirelessly on my old fast charger from note 7 and the convertible charger given in the promotion for Note 8 customers from Samsung. Charges in portrait mode and landscape.
 
Wow! Glad you are finally getting to play with your new Note8. They are great phones...if you get a good one. :rolleyes:
 
I think that if you don’t have the Sammy wall plug you dont get fast wireless charging speeds and it only charges at a conventional /non fast rate..?
 
Uh-oh. Now my 4th Note 8 stopped wirelessly charging. This is not good. Pretty sure it coincided with the oreo update. It was working flawlessly too. It's funny, but every time I go through this I check these forums for people with similar issue. There doesn't seem to be a lot of complaints. Then I found a few threads on the Samsung + app through a Google search. Seems I'm not the only one having these problems. Oh well, time to call Samsung again.

I have a note 8 and it stopped charging with my QI charger. After talking the Samsung had a few other tries I "wiped cache partition". Worked for me. Google it an give it a try.

Ok, thinking back my Note8 was working perfectly with the Samsung wireless charger I bought for my Note 7 and then a few months in I received security update and it stopped charging wirelessly. Flat quit! I was so mad! Nothing would get it to work with my Samsung wireless charger. I finally bought a Samsung wireless charger (2018) model and it works fine now. I think they must have decided we needed to spend some more money. :)
