What Texting App do you use?

I've been using Verizon's Messaging + app and like it but since the Oreo update I don't have the option to change the notification sound in the app nor in my settings. Whatever I have in settings as the stock notification sound is what is the sound for all notifications. Not liking this latest update.

I'm just starting to use this and really like it. It can be used on a laptop as well as the phone (like Google Voice if you are familiar w/that). It's a lifetime purchase or monthly subscription, I went w/the lifetime.

I rely on Signal Private Messenger from Open Whisper Systems. I like their stance on privacy and security issues but in your case there are options buried in the app's Settings menu to change a number of Notification options -- alert sound, toggle vibrate on/off, LED color, LED blink pattern, and more.

Like Clem, either Textra or Chomp, though I'm currently using Chomp.

I don't have the option to change the notification sound in the app nor in my settings.

Textra, as recommended above, lets you change the notification sound. Go to Settings - Customize Notifications.

I use Verizon's Message+ also and haven't had any problems changing the default notification sounds for the app, or for assigning a notification to a contact in the app. In their last update things were moved around in the menus so it just takes a little poking around to find what you're looking for.
