Help How to transfer files from old S7 to new S7?

My Galaxy S7 has to be sent in for replacement due to the dreaded battery bulge disease. I am required to send in my old phone BEFORE they will send me a replacement.

How can I save all my files and apps prior to shipping? Then how do I transfer all this to the replacement phone when it arrives?

I have a 32GB SD card installed in my old S7 which has some of my data. I also have the "Android File Transfer" app installed on my Mac that I use to download photos. Will these help?

Smart Switch apparently requires you to connect the two phones to transfer data. I will only have my new replacement phone, after I send in my old phone. Any suggestions?

Smart Switch also works with PC or Mac, so you should be able to transfer data to your computer, and when you get the new phone transfer it back.

I followed the "step by step" instructions, installing Smart Switch on my compatible Mac. When I connected my Galaxy S7 to my Mac via USB, I got an error message from the Smart Switch app on my Mac, "Unsupported Device" w. a "Check Supported Devices" button that just takes me to the Smart Switch web page.
I checked and both my Mac OS version and my Samsung Galaxy S7 Android version are supposed to be supported. Tried installing on two different Mac computers, same result.
I also found out that a Smart Switch app is already installed on my S7. But when I launch it, I only get instructions of how to connect a new phone and transfer data from my old phone.
I reinstalled drivers via the Smart Switch menu and I am using a good Samsung USB cable that came w. my S7. Same problem. Any suggestions?

Are you using the OEM cable or something else? Samsung phones are very fussy with USB cables.

I have tried both USB cables that came with my S7. Both cables work fine for both charging and data when using the Android File Transfer app that I have installed on my Mac.
I think the Smart Switch app is just not playing well w. my S7 for some reason.

:( I guess your just going to have to do it the old fashioned way.

First, copy everything from your /sdcard partition to a folder on your Mac. That should include Photos and media. Next, make sure you have contacts sync'ed and backup apps and settings selected in settings>backup & reset>Google backup. Then backup your SMS/MMS messages. I use SMS Backup & Restore for that. Finally, any email messages that are not part of an IMAP, Exchange or Gmail account, that you want to save, you'll have to copy them, too.

Do you have an SD card?

If not, that's pretty much everything you need to transfer to a new device. If you are using a custom launcher, then you could backup the settings and layout for your home screens, too. I don't think touchwiz has that ability though.

Because they are the same phone devices , so transferring files from Samsung to Samsung can be easy to do ,
You can use your Facebook account or Gmail account to sync the files ,but you need to be aware that the account must have been tied to the phone before ,
As well as you can connect your two phones to computer for file transfer
