need help if possible on5 550t1

Although that's strange that you've status is official yet your warranty says void 1. An unvoid warranty would say 0. I've never seen an official status but void warranty before. The other way round, yes but that no.

ok in the upper left it is small so what i read is product name sw-g550t1
samsung official
system status official
frp lock = off ====== is this what your talking about?
secure download enabled
warranty void 1 0x0384
ap swrev: b:2 k:1 s:0

Nah. There should be OEM Lock on or off under that.

ok i have it connect to odin and have f. reset time checked and ap checked. i put twrp in the box as instructed and it ran .03 seconds and now say pass.

so i expect the next step is to unplug the cable and pull the battery as they say and wait for the 10 seconds or more and and start the phone. but then it says enter twrp recovery hold the volume up and home and power and wait for twrp recovery show up.

i did this before and never got anything that said twrp recovery. so should i go this route or another route?

If it said pass then whatever you flashed is on your phone. Honestly I've never heard of removing the battery. I'd just try volume up, power and home. If it doesn't work remove the battery and try again.

ok i did the odin reset and then unplugged the phone and took out the battery.
then put the battery in and help the volume up and home and then power keys as the instructions say. this time i got a screen i have not seen yet unmodified system partition then keep system read only then twrp can leave your system unmodified to make it easier for you to take official updates
twrp will be unable to prevent the stock rom from replacing twrp and will not offer to root your device
then it says installing zips and performing adb operations may still modify the system partition.
then a box that says never show this screen again during boot.
then a gray box that says keep read only and another one that says select language.

under that i have a swipe to allow modifications.

the instructions say to install the supersu from my sd card or storage and then to choose to reboot the phone. but it did not say to install them on the phone before i started so if i'm in twrp how can i get them on the phone?

ok i did what that twrp said to do and it did some stuff and rebooted. than i opened up supersu and it says root undetected so again i say this phone can't be rooted.

and to see if i could mount the 32gb super fast sd card i got and make it format to internal or added to the phone memory and no it still says format to storage. so for some reason all tis is just not helping.

the phone is still useable. i wonder if it all goes back the that app that i tired to unlock the phone and it had 2 statements on said yes and one said no in the same page.

Have you downloaded the supersu zip from the guide that you were following and flashed it from recovery? You've got a custom recovery so we're almost there. If the one you are using didn't give you the zip to flash have a look on one of the other guides and then flash that. If you've already flashed it and still don't have root it might just be a case of download the supersu app from the play store.

You were right about that phone not saying oem lock on or off though. It took about 10 YouTube vids to get a decent view of the writing and it's not there.

i have all the files from my computer on the phone i just re copied all of them the the sd card and to a folder in the phone and will try the reboot again and see if twrp come back and lets me go thru it again. i will let you know in a few minutes if anything changes.

ok i die it again and i found a supersu zip and clicked it and it started doing a bunch of stuff and rebooted and the phone came back on so now i will try the su app and see if it says rooted now. i opened up the #su app and now i get no apps configured so is that rooted?

Download a root checker from the play store and see if that works or download a free app which needs root access from the play store and see if you're able to grant it root access when you open it.

so in the supersu app it says enable superuser checked and re- authorisation ask for permission checked.

went to the storage and still the sd card is storage will not let me format to combine them. and i tried to download a root checker and i have to delete some app to test. so if it di root it is not changing the sd storage that i wanted all along. the root did not mean anything to me but for the ability to format a sd card to make my phone have more storage as internal. so all this work may just be in vane. i appreciate all the help on that but it this make me be able to format my sd card to internal storage at all?

First thing first let's check if you're actually rooted. There must be an app on your phone you could delete just to make the space so you could check. You could always reinstall after. If you're rooted I'd suggest starting another thread about using your external storage as internal because that's not my speciality. I did it once about 5 years ago but I have no idea which app I used to do it. I'm sure there's people here who know about about.

ok downloaded the first root checker app and it says not rooted. so i will try one more if that one says not rooted then i will see if i can undo this stuff i did . even if i have to just go in and reset it to factory and give up.

the second app said it was rooted? confused. what app should i use to make sure?

ok 3rd app said rooted and said i need busybox app

Try downloading titanium backup, the free version and not the paid key. If that runs then you're rooted.

ok i downloaded titanium backup and root and it loaded up asking for first start. so if that is the app is sounds like it did work. now to see if i can the the sd card to work as the internal memory.i will attack that in the morning.
shotgun84 your the man i was betting this would not go. i have rooted other phones and none were this hard to do.
maybe someone reading this can give im some instructions to get the sd card into internal memory. again thanks everyone that help this was a trip.

ok after all that work the adoptable storage just would not work so i reset the phone. and set the sd card back to plain old sdcard. i spent just way to much time messing around with this and i have come to the conclusion that this really can't be done. i did get it rooted but then i just had to many issues start up today. if i can figure out how to get it back the out of the box condition then i will do it. i used the phone to reset it and then i use twrp to reset it. but i think twrp is still in there messing with the system.

i just could not get the adoptable storage to work it looked like it was set but then i put some app in and got the message that i needed to uninstall some app to load new ones. i want the phone to have 32gb plus the phone gb to be usable. it it will not do it then it is worthless to have that stuff on the phone taking up much valuable space. so i have to now search to see if i can gae the phone back to out of the box condition. there must be a way.

If it said pass then whatever you flashed is on your phone. Honestly I've never heard of removing the battery.....
Just a FYI, with my Sprint-based Galaxy S3 when rooting it, in order to get a custom Recovery installed it was necessary to have the 'Auto-Reboot' option in the Odin utility unchecked, and once that 'Pass!' icon would be showing, just pull the battery. Then just put it back in, start up the phone, and go on with installing SuperSU and such.
Going through the process by instead allowing the phone to reboot itself would always result in the stock Recovery to remain as is. Apparently this issue wasn't necessary on S3's from other carriers, Sprint was adding an annoying little script in the stock Recovery that would run during the powering-off process and would detect some alteration to the Recovery. Yanking the battery is of course not the most elegant way to turn off/restart a phone but it would bypass that script's code from running.

svim. rooting the s3 was a bit ago i have not used that phone for a year or so and i used an app to root it and it worked as i used some root checking apps and they all said it ws rooted. but the on5 i was working on yesterday did root eventually and then i tried to get the sdcard to become extra memory and at first it looked like it worked but then as i started to add more or my apps it stopped putting them in the sdcard? combined memory. pissed me off so bad i just formated the phone back to factory. had to go into the twrp and tell it to make the phone factory again. for all the time we all spent on it, it was not worth the time to keep trying. i can get an ebay phone and change the screen faster than rooting the phone and adopting the sd card. you world think by now the os would be adjusted to just move apps to the sd card like you can do on a computer. they all work on programming. my guess it is all about money, why make it so easy then phone companies would not be able to sell new phone because the old ones would be able to keep up for years. thanks
