OnePlus 3 broken screen, photo restoring

Hello :),

I broke my friends OnePlus 3 screen by dropping it to a tile floor. The screen went all black and the touch screen works partially from the top. My plan is to restore all the pictures from the phone.

I have used OTG-cable and mouse to open the phones pattern-lock, but I can't get access to the files since I need to allow the phone to use USB for file transfers and that is very very difficult because I can't see what I'm doing. USB debugging is off.

Is there a way to use OTG-cable for screen-mirroring and mouse at the same time or is there any other way to get access to the files?

I take it the screen doesn't work at all? I can't think of a way to have 2 OTG devices at once although I think I've seen adapters on Amazon, but what might be possible is to use the mouse and then cast the screen to another device like a smart TV or a Chromecast device.

maybe you can have a try of recovery tool, it can access broken phone data.
Yeah, no. Generally these things don't work and this one is sure not to work because @androidnoobie101 can't access his screen to grant the necessary permissions (they blow through that screen pretty fast on the video.) If you ask me, these file and photo recovery tools are preying on desperate people trying to save their important information. The worst are the apps that claim to have found files but you can only retrieve them with the paid version.

Well yeah, OTG HDMI-adapter doesn't work as expected. I guess the only way is to use the Google Photos-method in some Wi-Fi that have been used with the phone.

I am having similar problem as described above and would really appreciate help if anyone knows what to do.
I dropped my OP3 a few days ago, the screen cracked, is not responsive and is also completely black. The phone still works in the background however. I just want to recover my photos from there, meaning I just need to get by this screen, asking me what I want to do with the phone once connecting it to the PC. Unfortunately I do not have developer mode activated plus I have the latest available OS.
If anyone knows a way to unlock the screen or recover photos I'd be deeply thankful.
Could an option be to connect OTG cable and run the phone in recover mode?
PS I prefer not to repair the screen seeing as I had ordered OP7 a few days earlier

If it's a stock recovery (i.e. you've not modified the phone software) then recovery mode won't help at all. With a custom one it's possible, but you would need to interact with the recovery menus to enable usb debugging from recovery.

Thanks for the reply. At least I don't need to spend money on cables
