Weird severe problem.

I've developed a severe problem with my 3 month old LG-V20 running Android v7.0.

When the internal memory gets to be below 51% then at night after the phone has been on all day when I try to do any work on the phone it starts working for a few seconds then it will go to sleep and start making the sound you get when you plug the charging cable in every few seconds. When you try to wake the phone up you get the Lock Screen but if try to swipe it may go to a full screen of the Lock screen, do nothing, go to a total black screen or to the last open screen then it will shut off again.
The wallpapers may disappear it may go from total black to the home screen back to black.

The only way I can get it to maybe work correctly is to do one of the following: Reboot, turn completely off and then on in a few minutes or pull the battery.
If I do that it may work okay for a few awhile or I may have to repeat the process 3 or more times.
But the only sure way is to put it to sleep for the night and shut it off in the morning and let it sit for a couple of hours and then turn it on and it will usually work for around 7 hours before it starts acting up again.

Anyone with any ideas?

PS. I've noticed that the problem seems to be battery temperature affected.
The hotter the battery is the worse the problem is.

It starts happening when the temperature gets above 75°-80°.

I'm going to guess you might have something running that runs the processor hot - and consequently the battery hot too. Once it all heats up the system wants to protect itself - so it downclocks the processor etc.

But by then it's hot enough for other circuits of the system to be very unhappy or even failing - sending false signals to the processes etc etc. It's confused - thing of a person with a high fever.

Your reboot doesn't help because it's still hot and so is the battery - so the cycle starts over.

the battery pull helps because things cool down and the full memory is re-written.

That would be my first pass. To that end I would maybe uninstall some of your recently installed apps or maybe go though the effort of a factory reset and start over.

Thanks for your suggestions.

The phone has always had a battery overheating problem ever since I got it even before I put any apps on it.
In fact the only time it isn't running hot is if it is unplugged and turned off.

Just holding it in your hand by the finger tips will have it over heating in 30 seconds when not plugged in or being used.

I've learned to live with it showing temperature readings of up to 158°F when plugged in and being used.

I may have to do a Factory Reset no matter the hassle.
