S7 edge battery life

So I purchased an s7 edge on eBay recently and the phone is in phenominal cosmetic condition and I love it. But the battery life is terrible. It will drop while it's even just sitting there with the screen off. Within the past 5 minutes i have dropped 4% already.

Is this common after the nougat update or does this phone just have a bad Battery? When I open CPU-Z it says my battery is "good " but it sure does not seem like it. And under battery in settings, there's not any apps taking a considerable amount of battery life. Most is Google services at 8% and my phones currently at 58%.

And I know there are Chinese knock offs with smaller batteries, and I've already verified it's an original. So that's not a concern here.

Would I be better off getting an exchange from the seller? Or buying a battery case? Or just getting my money back and get a different phone? (Last resort bc I love this phone)

One thing you might want to try is to wipe the system cache partition. It's often a good idea to do this after a system upgrade anyway. Note wiping the system cache won't affect your saved data, the system cache resides in its own, separate partition (different than your data partition, where all your stuff is stored) so this is a relatively safe thing to do, and the actual wipe should only take a few seconds (the longest part being rebooting into Recovery Mode). Also you can't do it from an option in your Settings menu, you need to reboot your phone into its Recovery Mode, see these instructions:

But this is just an off-hand suggestion, it's always going to be a big mystery as to the health of the battery when buying any pre-owned phone. You can never know if the previous owner took great care in charging the phone properly, or just abused the battery to an early failure. Personally I won't buy any phone that doesn't have a user-replaceable battery, which does limit choices as the current trend is to make phones with glued-in-place batteries making them difficult to impossible to replace.

I actually already wiped the cache and it doesn't seem to have helped. It was upgraded to nougat prior to me purchasing it. I am actually really surprised about the battery. I heard this phone had a very good battery which is partly why I chose it. And now it's the 1 thing I hate about it lol

You can't base your opinion on this battery taking into consideration you don't know anything about how well the previous owner took care of it.

I was not saying all s7 edge batteries suck. Just the one in this phone. I love the phone and I'm sure the battery is just abused in this one unfortunately

OK, so ignoring the implied and taken literally, whomever told you that particular phone had a 'very good battery' could and should be held responsible and owes you at least some restitution. (Assuming of course the battery itself is indeed the problem and not something else.)

You've misunderstood what I meant by that. I was saying that my research on the s7 edge as a device suggested it had a really good battery. Not this exact phone.
