Gmail notification doesn't work

It's been a while that I don't receive my new email notifications from my Gmail app on Galaxy S8

I tried every possible troubleshooting steps but none of them worked. (Yes, I checked sync, data usage, reinstalled, settings, etc..)

I installed inbox by Google this morning and I started to receive notifications on Inbox without any issues. Anyone knows how to fix the Gmail app?

Try to wipe data from Gmail.apk, uninstall updates, REBOOT and check it. (Also go into recovery and clear caches as well if ya can)

I totally agree, which is why I recommended uninstalling the updates. 😎

I had the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago, and nothing fixed it- uninstalling updates, changing power settings to ensure the app wouldn't be killed or put to sleep, verifying sync settings, etc, etc, etc. I tried everything short of wiping the phone when the notifications suddenly started working again! (This was after about a week of no notifications).
I'm afraid that probably doesn't help you much, but there is still hope
