Bought a Chinese phone compatible with Verizon..

I just purchased a Android smartphone from China, it's called the 'Homtom S9 plus'. I did extensive research on it before purchasing and from what I could find it said it was compatible with the Verizon I have. However I insert my SIM card and it reads it and recognizes it as a Verizon card, but I can get any service. If you need more info, message me. (I'm new here ☺) thanks for the help

Yes that phone, but if I can find the website I'll show you the website, but it says Verizon 4g compatible.
If it's actually Verizon's site than you'll have some leverage for it to accommodate you in some way, if it's just some random web site though, it's essentially just hearsay.

Unlikely that Verizon would be listing some Chinese import on their site though.

If it was the vendor's site you would have a claim if it's not compatible, but if they are based in China you may have trouble enforcing that if they aren't cooperative (a US-based importer would be subject to US law though, so if you bought it through a US-based vendor and they made a false claim that should be straightforward). I must warn you that sites selling these phones can be very slapdash about their facts: I just did a quick search and the first site I found claimed it was compatible with VZW LTE, but showed the 2100 MHz LTE band as the one giving compatibility. In fact no US network uses that band (some use the 1700/2100 AWS combination, but that is something different).

Check the box and see what frequency bands it supports. If Verizon's LTE bands aren't listed that would be the end of it. If they are then the question is whether it needs VZW to register it (it would have back before LTE, I'm not sure now).
