Help Wrong time zone

Android Expert
I realized that I my "10" missed an alarm. When I checked, I found the time was wrong. It was 1 hour later than it should be. I had automatic date & time checked in settings along with automatic tine zone. I found that the automatic time zone had me in the Central time zone but I live in the Eastern time zone. I tried restarting the phone and clearing the phone's cache. Neither worked. So I unchecked Automatic time zone and set it correctly to Eastern zone. After a few hours, the time was wrong again. The Automatic Time zone got turned on again and not by me or anyone else. Verizon support said its a glitch and will correct itself. I'm not so sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you connect through a proxy or VPN?

I'm connected through a proxy, I believe. Networking isn't my strong point. Since I have no VPNs installed, it must be proxy. I have the problem if I'm using wifi (optimum) or data (Verizon).

Find out the IP of the proxy and ping back to it's location. I'll be you'll find it's in the same time zone that your phone keeps setting itself to.

If you set it to location manually, it shouldn't reset back to network time. Not sure what's going on there. Sorry.

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it. I'm keeping the time zone on manual for now. If it screws up again I'll unchecked automatic day and date too. No good reason for that, just fishing for a fix. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Today I remembered my time zone problem. I've had it set manually since the end of February without issue. Being a little anal retentive, I wanted to set it on automatic and have it work. So I changed it back to auto and it has been correct for 20 minutes. (19 minutes longer than before) So Verizon was right and it did fix itself. How, I have no idea.
