Netflix conflict with GS7E? Netflix is NOTflix

Papamalo

Android Enthusiast
Hello all.
Recently, a friend of mine, purchased a Galaxy S7 Edge, originally intended for AT&T, it was unlocked and now is used with a metro PCS account.

Problem:
Netflix, opens and hangs on the startup screen., = No netflix, or as I have started saying "Notflix"

Things I have tried:
Clearing the cache
Restarting the phone
Deleting and reinstalling the app
Trying different wifi networks

All to no avail. Does anyone have an idea of what to do?
Thanks!
P.

In your list of things you've tried you mention clearing the cache but try 'Clear data' instead -- tap the 'Force stop' button and then go into the Storage menu and tap the 'Clear data' button. This clears the app cache and the app's configuration settings, so the next time your friend starts the app it's starting up as its original, never used state so they will need to re-enter their Netflix user name and password. (Uninstalling/reinstalling the app reinstalls it but does not necessarily clear the config files.)

Hey thank you guys for the help! Mush appreciated.
I did the following with NO results:

Error message (New . It just started popping up since I did all the app clearing)
"Sorry we could not reach the netflix service. Please try again later. (-9)"

1: Cleared the app cache
2: Cleared the app Data
3: Uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled, reinastelled
4: Cleared my phone's cache partition

NOTE:
- This phone was originally an AT&T phone but was unlocked, and now operates on a Metro PCS account
- Netflix worked perfectly until just two weeks ago. I made NO changes
- I sent a feedback form (popped up when the app froze. That never happened before)

Thanks!

Is this happening while connected to WiFi or mobile data, or both? If WiFi, is this a problem with just one WiFi network or is the problem still occurring elsewhere?

I'm not sure if you can log out of the app. I get a similar message on my Android TV. I tried the same things you did, clearing cache, data, uninstalling, etc. I have to sign out of netflix then sign back in to clear it up. Something gets hung up in the app that logging out of your account clears up.

I didn't see if you posted this but did you also try logging in and out of Netflix on a computer not your phone? Like Unforgiven said above sometimes netflix gets hung up.

If you want to log out of your Netflix account, open the app, tap on the three horizontal lines icon in the upper left corner, scroll down to the bottom to the 'Sign Out' option.

Or log into your Netflix account via a webmail access (browser), go the Account option, and in the Settings category select 'Sign out of all devices'. Now change your password so the next time you start up the Netflix app on your phone you have to re-authenticate yourself using the new password.
