HTC 10 outgoing email has stopped

Recently experienced a loss of outgoing mail. I get the error message: "Mail has stopped unexpectedly. Would you like to send an error report to HTC? This will help us improve our products." Anyone else with a HTC10 have the same problem? Getting ready to use my phone insurance.

I have the exact same problem. I noticed it at 6:50 CST. I can't find a way to fix it. If you do please post.

I have the HTC U11, so seems to be wide spread. I've been having the same issue all day. Started around 9am PST. I have tried everything including a factory reset. Issue went away for 30 mins after I restored my back up, but it's back. With the compression of picture when sending issue (sending blurry photos via SMS) and now this email issue I'm about over my 6 year HTC run.

I have been in contact with HTC who have a solution. It's to do with the Google Chrome update. Find Chrome in your apps and uninstall latest update.

We have found a workaround for us to rectify the issue. It seems that there may be a conflict with the Google Chrome's latest update. We can try uninstalling its update by going to Settings > Apps > Chrome > Uninstall Updates. This is a temporary problem with Chrome compatibility. HTC will send out an update patch once sorted out properly.... meanwhile chrome still works ok. Hope it helps. Cheers

I finally found an answer and it worked for both my HTC 11 and 10(for work). On the HTC website the forum says to go to your Google Chrome App and uninstall the latest update for that App and turn off auto updates until the next update in April comes out. Worked for both phones/email accounts...whew! Hours of frustration!

I agree. If HTC doesn't put out a fix on this fast (they should be reading these posts by the way if they are smart) I'm going to file a claim on my phone insurance. I have been looking on the internet for a solution and people who have older HTC phones say that you can go to Android System Webview in your Apps list and delete the current update for that App. That seemed to solve the problem for those people with older phones. With the 10 I can't find anything called "Android System Webview" in my Apps list. What would be the equivalent App for Webview on an HTC 10? that is the question. See my Avatar? that's how I'm feeling right now about this issue.

Did you try the solution in posts 6 and 9 above?

Obviously turn off automatic updates, or else it will just redownload the version of Chrome that's causing the problem.

BTW "Android System Webview" is a standard Google app that is on my current Pixel and was on my previous HTC One (m7). Check that your app list is displaying system apps. But two people have posted above that a Chrome update is the problem.

OK, I just did that...It worked!

Yes, I did what Gickey instructed. It worked!

See Gickey's solution in this thread.
