Happy 4th Birthday Galaxy S5

Believe it or not, the 11th April 2014 marked the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S5.

My own S5 doesn't look a day over 2. :)

I'm old and set in my ways.
Had the choice of what I wanted when my first one died, but got another S5.
Don't know what'll be available when this one needs to be replaced.

I only used mine for around a year and half. My shortest time with a smart phone. The vibrate didn't work any more, the camera sucked from day 1, finger print sensor was a pain, and it was slow at times compared to the other phones I've had. I got the S7 back in February and it's ok. I hate that I can't remove the battery, the glass back, the curved screen making screen protectors a pain, but the camera is SO MUCH BETTER lol. The S5 is the worst Samsung phone I've had so far (Transform Ultra, S3, S4, S5, S7.) Guess I got a bad one because it sure seems like most people like it.

Vibrate ;never use it
Camera; I'm not that fancy.
Fingerrprint; I like how you take more effort than on the s6/s7/s8. I tried to unlock my cousin's s7 and i swiped. He had to show me! Meanwhile I have another cousin with an iPhone 4s.
Slow? Blazingly fast compared to my 1-ghz dual core tablet[Galaxy tab 2]

Well I've been using the Galaxy S5's big sister phone for over 3 and a half years now (Galaxy Note 4)! Got it day of release and still love it! I'm sorry you had so many issues with the S5, I also hate the Fingerprint sensor, it's a joke tbh. Camera is amazing, shoots in 4k (not on S5). The S7 looks amazing, I almost got the Note 7... but it was recalled before I could get my hands on one.

LOL! iPhone 4s? You can literally buy $20 android phones that are better than the 4s!

Hmmm.. now I am wondering about the 2 1/2 S4's I have. 1 is my personal phone and the other is my business phone. The 1/2 one? It was my stepson's until the screen cracked, now just saving it for emergency back-up but they all still work pretty good. Although my personal one likes to get flaky every so often but not consistently enough for me to pin down why

Really? Well good! All new Samsung phones are garbage. I need the removable back, IR Blaster, and not have the easily breakable glass on back.

They brought back in the s7 water resistance and microsd. Battery removable if you know how. Ir blaster is just to brag.

And there is the problem nowadays, why couldn't they just leave it where you just popped off the back and put a fully charged battery in wherever you where, 30 seconds job. To me improving things make them better not worse. Phil

3 years on mine. Been rooted and locked down on 4.4.2 since I got it, but just this week did the update to 6.0.1 mostly because some important stuff didn't work any more on KitKat. Lost root which sucks, but I'll deal with that.
The removable battery is important, I've gone through a few. And I do use the IR blaster for a universal remote app that's great for setting up TV's at work or accessing menus on hotel TV's.

s6 not second s5
Ewwww S6? That is literally the worst Samsung Galaxy S phone, sorry mate.

I'm locked down on 4.4.4 on a Note 4 (not by choice), I'm planning on upgrading the phone manually to Marshmallow, do you have any slowdowns, or battery issues? I've been reading that there are a lot of issues with marshmallow.

Not so far, in fact it was getting a bit laggy on KK and MM seems better. Of course that could be because it got reset and not from the update, no way to tell. It did go through a lot of battery right after the update as it did all its business but then it settled down and it's been decent. I don't think these things like doing huge leaps when they update, they prefer incremental ones so something like 4.4 to 6.0 makes the phone bug out for a bit.
Of course your experience may be totally different from mine. For the record mine is a Metro SM-G900T1, as I mentioned it was rooted but on a stock ROM.
