Permissions upon adding first contact from a message?

Hi,
New user here that has just bought my second Note device. My first was a Note 3 that I used happily till this weekend after I could not solve an error upon startup that first cropped up about a week ago.

I finally got tired of trying to solve that and bought a Note 8 on Saturday.

My question is about two messages that I saw after startup when adding my first contact from a text message. Unfortunately, at this time, I can't remember them well, and I do not know if I can get the messages to happen again.

The messages, which seemed like permissions said something like "To allow xyz to do such and such, you must allow Contacts access to calendar events", or "to allow contacts to see a list of messages, you must allow access to yada yada", or something like that. If someone has done multiple setups on Note 8 devices and might have the exact message, I could probably confirm if that was in fact the messages I got. The options were "allow" and "deny", I believe. I finally clicked allow and do not think I can get the messages again.

Can anyone help me out with what these messages were and exactly what they would allow?

Thanks,

Danny

go to your apps section.

look at the apps that may request that info.

click to get into those apps and clear the permissions.

Thanks for the info. I did try looking into the contact app permissions, but at that time, I found nothing like what I clicked on to acknowledge. To be honest, the messages were not going away if I clicked "deny". To add insult to injury, I made my first calendar entry tonight, and the calendar has a section that wanted to show me as "busy". I don't want to be shown as anything. Maybe part of what I clicked on is to be found under the calendar and not contacts. I will check on that, but I do not want to change permissions for something that was not this issue. Right now, I am wondering if anyone remembers what those two messages would have been so that I can feel better in targeting the exact correct permissions.

Thanks,

Danny

Edit: I did find what could be the offending permissions in Contacts, as well as Calendar, along with Gallery, but to be honest, right now I am hesitant to change them unless someone remembers the messages from the first time they added a contact from a text message. If this thread goes on, if it helps, I can list the permissions. I thought that the other message had something to do with files or pictures. My only concern with the changes made was in giving out too much private info. or access to files. Maybe, but I am not sure, access to files could mean files that I SEND (and only that I send). I found the messages a bit ambiguous.

Iirc it's basically to just make it so if you set a date on the calendar for an event you can add people from your Contact list to the event if you want. The set your state with the option of busy was added to Calendar awhile ago

Thanks for the info. That is kind of jogging my memory as to what could have been part of what one message was about. The other, more concerning, had something to do with availability of files to others.
