Erratic GPS in certain outdoor locations

I'm running Android 6.0.1 on a Nexus 2013 tablet and recently my GPS has started behaving bizarrely, but only in certain outdoor locations. The cursor will jump to a nearby location, gradually drift back towards the correct location before jumping away again.

I've tried using the GPS Status app, resetting my GPS, clearing the cache, restarting the tablet, but it keeps doing this. What is causing this and how do I fix it?

Like I said, I already have that app, I've already tried it, and it only temporarily solves the problem. And my GPS is already on high accuracy setting.

I must have over read that because I don't see it but if I knew you already had it I wouldn't have went through all this trouble trying to share it with you.

Maybe try "device only" and see whether it's more stable? It might be that it's picking up a distant WiFi network and that's throwing it off.

(It could also be that it's losing GPS and falling back to wireless only, but playing around with different modes might give some information either way).
