My Headphone Jack isn't working (Software problem)

My phone's headphone jack just recently stopped working. Only the left side of the earphones work when I plug them in. I know it's not a problem with the earphones after testing the headphone jack with other earphones and still having the same problem. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the hardware since the headphone jack started to work again after restoring the device. However trying that again doesn't seem to work anymore. Anybody have an idea on what's going on here?

Probably pocket lint not allowing the plug to fully seat itself. Try using a vacuum cleaner to suck it out. With the phone off try a pin to carefully loosen the compacted lint. Use the head of the pin to grab and pull.

I've tried that before. No luck.
