Which is unlike certain other China phones, like the ZTE Max Pro, where it seems quite a few Phandroids are wanting to root the thing and quarrel about it.

Well that did amaze me somewhat. .. interest in that particular brand of phone maybe gone off because of recent events....P&CA.

Frankly if Phandroidians do want a China phone they can properly root, modify and run custom ROMs etc. some of the Xiaomi and OnePlus phones are probably the best choice.

Good point. I hadn't looked at OnePlus pricing outside of China for a while.FWIW I see the OnePlus 6 128GB is £519 in the UK, and it's 2,999 yuan CNY (£341) in China. I guess that's shipping costs, import dutys, 20% VAT, etc.

Plus hedging against currency fluctuations, and probably just a bit of extra margin because the Western market will bear it.

So i found a way to solve some of the lag problems with apps id been having. Believe it or not on this phone I did not turn on developer options. Once I enabled them I went to Animator Duration scale and turned animations off. After that apps that would take 30 seconds to load (Transit) popped right up.

My Poweramp problems were solved by going into Settings, choosing Audio > Advanced tweaks and setting the Audio Buffer size to +750ms. No more songs pause in the middle.

I think I didn't think of these things is because this is my first phone from a carrier in a good long while.

First thing I do when setting up a new phone is to Enable Developer Options, Enable OEM Unlock, Enable USB Debugging and turn off all Animations.
