WIFI calling not working off another phones hot spot

FSP

Lurker
There are times I like to use wifi calling on my business cel, connected to my personal cel hot spot.

It used to work flawlessly, but now, most of the time it does not work.

This seems to be an issue where there is something blocking WIFI calling when hooked to another cel phone hot spot, because it does work when connected to my home wifi or other wifi that is not a cellular hotspot.

I have tried many configurations:

My phone (verizon) connected to cricket hot spot doesn't work, immediately after connected to home wifi works, then immediately after connected to a verizon phone's hot spot doesn't work.

Another verizon phone, same test, same results.

My sim card in another phone, same test same results.

Connected through a VPN same test, same results

In all cases the wifi hot spot works well for accessing internet and playing youtube videos etc.

Any other ideas on a work around?

What I am really trying to do is be in mexico, and not be detected by the caller noticing a foreign ringtone.

Whether the call is placed over Wi-Fi or the mobile network, the caller will see the phone number assigned to your SIM. So if you want to make a call while in Mexico without the caller knowing you're in Mexico just don't use a Mexican SIM.
