Annoyances when switching from iPhone to S9+

I've always used an iPhone for my smartphone.
But ...I've decided to switch to android for my next phone. I've researched and the Samsung S9+ appears to be the best android offering at this time.

Driving factors are: I like the external add on memory and not dealing with iTunes. ITunes is a major annoyance for me with the iPhone.

I'm hoping someone else has made this switch. I'm looking for any annoyances / PIA that you ran into.
Also please list anything you consider a good reason to switch.

I'm currently using an iPhone 6 that I've had for 3 maybe 4 years. Time for an upgrade and I think the S9+ is the one I want. This thread will help me with my final decision on what android to buy.
 
Not made the switch but years on the forums showed me these major complaints, mostly pertaining to iMessage and it's locked down nature:

1. iMessages: You may not receive them. You need to deactivate your Apple account so that people won't iMessage you any more since iMessages won't be received by the phone. Unless you have an iPad, so you'll receive it there I suppose.

2. Group messages. Since iMessage is an Apple only construct, you cannot receive group messages sent via iMessage. It should be sent to you as MMS/SMS. In a lot of cases this needs the other iPhone people to delete the previous group message and start a new one with you set up as a phone contact not an Apple contact.

3. You will not be able to send full res images or videos via the usual messaging apps. iMessage works a lot like Facebook where you can send videos and pictures at higher resolution by having them pass through web servers. Since iMessage is again only accessible by Apple, you cannot use Apple servers and you will send/receive only compressed images or videos sent via MMS. To send good quality media to Apple you need to use Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, and the like.

  1. launch iTunes.
  2. Go to "Store" menu.
  3. Click View My Apple ID.
  4. Enter password and see the option.
  5. Now choose to Deauthorize all computers.
  6. Confirm the de- authorization. process.
  7. Shut down iCloud services.
  8. In the Manage Devices window, click "Remove" for every device listed.
