I have a Galaxy S5 (SM-G900M). I bought it from a carrier in Colombia but it was unlocked, seeing as how I have been using it with Ting without problems for over a year.

Recently I decided to flash it because for some reason it had become painfully slow after the 6.0.1 update. I did not check which firmware it was using before, but I'm pretty sure it was the one with PDA G900MUBS1CQD5 and CSC G900MCOB1CPI1 .

I picked an unbranded firmware from Colombia (PDA G900MUBU1CQD3 and CSC G900MCOO1CQD1) and flashed it, then performed a factory reset. Everything worked fine, including the mobile network.

Today I decided to wipe the cache partition from the bootloader, but after I did that it is now asking me for a network unlock code and I get a notification saying "Network locked SIM card inserted", even though this never happened before.

Did the phone just lock itself after flashing or something? I'm pretty sure it was unlocked before, but I understand that flashing does not affect whether the phone is unlocked or not. And why would this happen only after wiping the cache partition? Any ideas?

Your original CSC code, G900MCOB1CPI1, is for the Columbian network, Movistar.

You then flashed the firmware for CSC code G900MCOO1CQD1 which is the non network, unbranded, firmware for Colombia.

Flashing firmware to unlocked phones, particularly the wrong CSC coded firmware, can cause the phone to re-lock itself again and will require an unlock code to be issued once more as even flashing the correct firmware at this stage will probably not unlock your phone.

It was the factory reset you practiced that got your network to be forgotten..I'm pretty sure if you entered the same one that was into will do the trick..but I'm guessing you don't have that code..not problem, just buy another unlock code..simple

My question was for fzink because he load at his phone totally incompatible rom.
I am assuming that other than network problems his Knox has be tricked too.

If he flashed stock Samsung firmware, even if it was not for his phone's Product and CSC codes, it would not trip the Knox Security flag. However, it would mean that he would not receive any future OTA, (Over The Air), updates. It is rooting the phone and/or flashing a custom ROM, that trips Knox Security.

You can check your Knox Security flag by booting into Recovery Mode. Once tripped, the Knox Security flag cannot be reset.
