My Pixel has just updated to Android P and it seems to me that the battery life has been extended, it might be the new operating system or just a setting on it but its definitely lasting longer

Some people have complained else where that the rapid charging has stopped working after upgrading to Pie however mine is charging as it should do.

My pixel has actually shown a decrease in battery life, and also the rapid charge had stopped?

It's my understanding that there will be a fix coming for that. Google initially indicated there wouldn't be but now there will be. Maybe. Hopefully.

Some OG Pixel devices are having trouble rapidly charging with third-party chargers. That should be corrected in a future update (September patch, maybe?).

If you're having trouble rapidly charging with the original Google charger then that may be something else.
