Android screen goes black too quickly

Have you checked in Settings - Display to see what the time out is set for? I think default is 30 seconds.

Yes I did. I know how to do that section but even when my time is set for 2 min the main screen still goes black way before 1min is even over with. Now I have another problem, it's on the main screen , now ads are popping up left & right that's really aggravating to me. I just wish only the 1st screen with the icons on would be it... Pls help me..

There is another spot to check for the timeout....settings/Accessibility/Dexterity and Interaction/screen timeout.

As far as the ads popping up, that is probably from an app you downloaded which allows popup ads.

Ok Mike, Thank u. Would u happen to know how I can find that/those apps on my phone so I can delete them?

Unless you disable them in Settings - Application, they will be re enabled.
Look and see if any apps have Device Admin privilege. For my Moto, it's under Security and location

This may get confusing....talking about 2 different issues in the same thread.

@dee11, would you like me to pull all the posts about your ad popups and put them into another new thread of your own?

Up to you. ;)

Who is your carrier (looking to see what the issue could be )

T-Mobile is my carrier. After doing the Safe Mode to find the third party apps which I deleted some , but the ads are still there in the beginning & every time the screen goes to sleep.

Did the screen time out about the same in Safe Mode or did it last to what you have set?

Yes the screen did time out as little 1 sec. Too many of those ads. I thought when I was in the Safe Mode & deleted the apps I thought may have had most if the ads, but they're still coming up..

I put the screen time to 10 min

Anything set as Device Admin have a lot of unneeded permissions?
If not able to narrow it down, as a last resort, factory reset. Backup anything you don't want to lose first.

Do you have Developer Options enabled to check Running Services?
If so, check to see any 3rd party apps that are running that you can disable.
This also may help find the culprit for your ads

That was my next thought too....some app that is controlling the screen timeout, overriding whatever he sets it to.

Not sure about adds on screen, trying to figure out screen time out. Do you have any battery saver apps or power saving mode on under Battery?
