.apk files & Oreo

I just looked at a fresh Back Up I did with Smart Switch for my Note 8
There are NO .apk files in the back up.
I have them in my back up files for my Note 4

Did Oreo drop .apk files?
Or does Smart Switch no longer back up the .apk files?

I have an App that is no longer available on Play but still works on my Note 8
I want to install it on my Wife's LG Stylo 4
But I cannot seem to find a way to get the apk off of my note 8

It may be in /data but I cannot get to that (without root and I do not want to root)

Root Explorer will not let me get to /data (I think Apps are there)

I found that ES File Explorer let me and I can copy it also then paste in the sdcard area

That looks more like some sort of alternate App downloader???

Yes it's a multi-functional downloader but you can use this to backup your apks . After you done doing that it will be stored on your device file manager then you can uninstall the app from that point, but what you're looking for is how to backup your app apks. Once installed look to the left upper corner and tick the horizontal bars > management> pick the apk you want to back up.

After the APK has been backed up you can long-press the APK and Click Share then choose the application you want to send the APK file.

It will look like this before you back it up

Let me know how it worked out for you if you choose to go that route. This is an app I've used to backup and share apk files in the pass.
