Images blurred when opened from texts

Hi all,

Loving my new S9+.

Having an issue receiving pictures through chat from other Samsung users.

Inside the thread, they're perfect.

When I click on them to open full size, it blurs them.

I can save the pictures, open from gallery and they're fine.

Only when opened inside the messages.

Quite frustrating!

Any ideas?

What happens if you use a different message app? I don't know the Samsung app that comes with the S9, so don't know whether this is a bug or some setting that needs changing, but if the downloaded images are fine my guess is that it's a problem with that specific app one way or another. If "chat" means RCS then you could try Google's Messages app, which also supports that, just to see.

Are you sure that it isn't something like it only downloading a thumbnail during the chat and not downloading the full image unless you save it? That's probably the sort of thing I'd look for in the app's settings, anything related to size of image, downloading, how images are presented in the chat.

And does it really only affect messages from other Samsung users?

Quite possibly. Haven't tried a 3rd party app as yet. Might need to try one to troubleshoot.
