okay so I know hardly anything about phones and technology.. today i seen that my partner had open on his phone his security section on fb messenger. In the list of devices it showed several active sessions all with the name of the phone which is a Sony experia z5 premium, but it also showed one as unknown device. The unknown device showed as active now so obviously it was the Sony because I had it open on messenger and it was active.. I’m just wondering why it would show as it’s proper name but also as unknown device? My partner claims he’s no good with technology stuff but I know that he is.. any help is greatly appreciated please

If your referring to account settings>security and login>when you're logged in I'm seeing all the devices i am currently logged in using my account as well as past devices that have Facebook on them but I'm not presently using. "Unknown device" simply means there was no identifier that Messenger recognizes. It could be an off brand phone or tablet, a PC or an anonymous login from a public computer like a library or airport. It usually give the location, so it should be fairly obvious.

Yes that is the screen that I’m talking about.. however I was using his Sony at the time that i was looking at that screen. The unknown device that showed was the Sony that I was using because it was the active now one.. I’m wondering why it showed as unknown then, but all other times it was recognised as it’s name song experia z5 premium??
Not necessarily. If there was another device logged in at that moment, it would show as active.
