Bluetooth Disconnects when WiFi Disconnects

I have been having this issue for about a month (Bluetooth disconnecting when WiFi disconnects) and it is getting irritating! No matter what I am connected to as soon as my WiFi disconnects whatever device (headphones, car, etc.) is using my Bluetooth is disconnected even though it shows Bluetooth is on and is still connected to said device. I have searched Google and many phone forums for this problem and haven't been able to find many people with this issue which means I have yet to find a solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: I forgot to include things I have already tried to try and fix it but none of them have worked: I have unpaired and repaired all Bluetooth devices, I have completely disconnected and reconnected my WiFi and I have also done a factory reset on my phone. The problem has persisted through all of this. :(

Try removing the Bluetooth device by entering (Forget) in the pairing location, then reconnect the device by pairing it again. I've had similar issues with my Bluetooth devices and found this little method worked.

I edited my original post because I forgot to include troubleshooting I have already done. I have tried doing what you suggested many times and nothing has fixed the issue. :(

What brand of Bluetooth are you using to connect with other devices because it may be the Bluetooth itself that's functioning or are you talking about the Bluetooth in the phone that you're having issues with?

It's my phone that is having the issue.

Sadly, since the factory reset didn't fix it I doubt clearing the cache would. I still tried it though just to make sure and it didn't work. I guess what I am going to have to do is just make sure to disconnect from WiFi before doing anything that requires me to use my Bluetooth. Thanks so much for all of your help! :)

In the matter where you're listening to something through your Bluetooth headphones, are you listening to online content (i.e. Spotify) or audio media that you have stored on your S7 (i.e. a collection of mp3 files) when you disable WiFi?
If it's the former than that's expected as that will break the online connection needed to listen to any streaming content (which explains why your Bluetooth is still connected to your S7, it's just that your phone isn't connected to the online stream), if it's the latter however, that is a sign there could be a problem.

@stephmont12 I've been having the same issue that started about a month ago as well! I have an S5 with android 6.0.1. When I connect to my car stereo (Pioneer AVHX3800BHS) everything works fine, but then when I drive away and my wifi disconnects from either my home or work wifi, the sound switches from playing out of my car stereo to playing out of the phone speaker. I'm still connected via BT and can still control my phone through my stereo, just the sound is coming out of the wrong speaker. To fix the problem I either have to disconnect/reconnect my BT, or I found the quicker way with my setup is to just switch my stereo to a different source (e.g. to FM radio) and then back to BT and I get sound out of my car speakers again (never disconnecting BT).

I really only listen to podcasts using the Podcast Addict app, so I haven't tried this with any other apps but I imagine its an issue with the phone and not the app...I'll have to experiment with another app to rule that out. So far I haven't tried anything to fix it short of restarting the phone but it sounds like you've been pretty exhaustive with your troubleshooting. Make any headway?

I've had my phone for about 1.5 years and use the BT with my car stereo almost daily and have never experienced this issue until recently. I would guess there was a recent update or something that is causing this issue.

EDIT. To address svim's last post, in my case I am listening to podcasts that are downloaded to my phone...so no streaming being interrupted with the wifi disconnect.

It sounds to me like a short circuit..then again it could be a recent update..BUT..remember when you do an update it has to be fallowed by a hard reset..in your case you DID one, BUT it sounds to me like your phone needs another one..don't be surprised!, that happens..maybe not that often..it has happened to me that my phone stays in the limb, and the next master reset..right after the the other...corrects everything.
