Antivirus

Worked with ZTE customer service representative last night. Toll free number goes right to a service rep located in Texas. We determined Lookout had some suspicious links attached. Got up this morning and Lookout was back.
What antivirus do you all recommend? I have been compromised by:
Facebook
Facebook Messenger
Google &
Gmail

It seems unlikely that a ZTE rep would help you troubleshoot Lookout Security, unless it was a bundled apps. Then i'd have to say the suspicious links were coming right from ZTE. Can you share what you found that was suspicious?

The malware comes not from the apps (as long as you are installing them from a trusted repository like the Play store) but from clicking on the ads ... and memes and surveys and all that nonsense within the apps that pay them a lot of money to get access to you.

I agree with @n0tall0wed , I don't use any "antivirus". One, because there aren't any real computer viruses (virii?) any more. The malware that gets to your phone is almost always some sort of trojan or spoof that tricks you into letting it in. All the scanners in the world won't stop that.

Do me a favor. Click on that little number 5 in the upper right of your browser. That tells me you have 5 browser tabs open. Then close each one until you are at a blank screen. Now clear your browser cache again. Next go to settings>apps>chrome and clear the cache there, just to be safe. (You might consider also clear the data for Chrome, but you'll lose all your bookmarks and have to sign the user agreement again.) Reboot the phone and see if it comes back.

Ok. About to be on the road. Will do next stop

Just got stopped. Guess what disappeared from my library of uninstalled apps on Google play. Google play services. The puzzle looking icon that I had 2 instead of 1. It was there, I tried looking at it. Wouldn't open. Tried again. Gone.

That's normal behavior if the app was removed from the play store. In that case the the service. Most likely what you saw was just a remnant of a past update.

First of all, Sorry Sorry. Busy day. I'm going to clean the items & follow the steps right now. I did go to my activity tonight from earlier today. Some Google Play Services shananagins mid-day. Problem is, my timeline has me driving at that time. I don't do phone or Internet while driving. Not only dangerous, but against the law in our little town. Not just school zones. All day, everywhere. Be back shortly.

It was in the 3rd column labeled Library. Well I just checked & it's back. And it didn't have instant apps last time. No way I would ever ok instant apps. No way in hell.

Ugh. Im out for the evening the more I archived or deleted sites being followed of mine, the more angry I'm getting. These bastards watch every move a person makes. Big Brother.

I have instant apps, too and I didn't install that. Fortunately you will notice that you don't actually have instant apps installed. A quick search reveals that's something that Google instituted where you can actually open play store apps without installing them ... if you want to. I would guess that a play store update in the past added that to your library, but doesn't install unless you want it. I don't think I'd worry about it, although it does cause confusion.

About your activity ... that, too can show a lot of activity when you think you aren't using your phone, but as long as it's on, there will be various activity when your phone syncs or connects to services, and sometimes the logs can be a bit cryptic. For example, I just looked at my activity and there was an item at 3:20 a.m. when I was fast asleep. Reading the details it makes it sound like there were things going on but most likely what happened is that an app synced some data, wanted to put up a notification, but didn't have permission to do so.

I don't want to be dismissive about your concerns, but a lot of this is just normal operation of Android. It might be best if we loot at these things specifically. Are there any activities that give you greater concern?
