Help Can't Find Photos from Google

I need help locating photos I downloaded directly from Google Images. Whenever I tap and hold on an image from a Google search result, I get the option to download it, but I don't get to choose where or how. The only time I can view the images I download is when I click the notification that it has finished downloading. The information tab of the image states it isn't located in any folder on my phone, so it just disappears while still eating up space. After that, I can never find the image again.

I've tried looking at my Google Drive, enabling hidden folders and files, updating my phone, and using a third-party file scanning app, but nothing is helping. I know that these images are eating up valuable storage space as my free storage is slowly decreasing with the more images I download. I don't want to have to wipe my flash drive and get it all back. That would be too much of a hassle. Please help me locate these files!

I'm using the most up-to-date version of Android available on my device and the most recent version of Google Drive and Samsung Files.

Any file explorer for Android should be able to find the file

Thanks for the suggestion, Dan. Unfortunately, the images do not appear in any apps including Google Photos.

Keep in mind that I usually download these images directly from the Google results provided by the included Google widget in most Android devices. I have been able to view these images in one place, and that's in some sort of file viewer with a blue user interface that pops up whenever I want to upload an image to imgflip. However, I cannot delete photos in this menu and it doesn't show up as a separate app.

P.S.

Please excuse any grammar and spelling errors I make. I'm stuck on my phone since my PC is busted and the small keyboard is uncomfortable to use.

If they are being saved in the phone then they WILL be occupying space in the phone. There's no two ways about it.
That is why ANY file explorer WILL be able to see the files. You just need to look thru all folders until you do, and what is this blue app you are speaking of?

You will find this "application" if you go to imgflip.com/memegenerator, click "Upload from your device" and then select the "Files" option. The icon should be a white folder in a blue circle. This application cannot be found on my phone. I know that the images I download off Google are somehow saved on my phone because they appear in this otherwise inaccessible app, but nowhere else.

If I understand you correctly, I opened chrome and searched for "turkey" to keep things festive. ;) I then tapped "images" in the search results and when i decided which image i wanted to download, i tapped it to bring it full screen. Then i long pressed the image and selected "download image". Do I have it right so far? Once i select to download I am prompted with a filename and location.

The default location is the Downloads folder.

Open Photos and press the hamburger menu in the upper left, or swipe the screen from the left to the right to open up the menu. Choose device folders and you should see your images. Keep in mind that the first time you do this, the "don't show again" is checked by default so if you changed the location on an image but didn't uncheck the box, you've set the location for all your downloads from that point forward and you won't be prompted for location again unless you go to settings>apps and clear defaults for photos.

Thank you for the tips, but these images are not in my downloads folder. In fact, I never got the prompt to select my download location in the first place.

The images I download are only viewable one time after clicking the notification. After that, I can never find them again. I'll upload screenshots when I have the time.

Just to confirm, are you using Chrome? A different browser? It really is going to depend on how you access the images in the first place.

Correction: I use the Google widget located on the home screen.

I discovered that while using Chrome. I can choose where to download the files. Using the Google app, I can't. Here are screenshots in the Chrome process vs the Google process.

I later get the prompt to name the file and download it to a specific folder.

Solution:
(1) make sure the Google app has Storage permissions.
(2) remove the default rules for the Gallery app. Settings - Apps - Gallery - Set as default - Reset defaults.
