Recently switched phones, using MetroPCS. Right after that, I can no longer receive text from Gmail for the purpose of 2-step verification to complete log-in. I know I enter correct password because it takes me to step 2 (text). Problem is phone does not receive text. Gmail displays last 2 digits of my number so I'm guessing number has not changed on the account. Phone receives text from Facebook for 2-step verification, just not Gmail. Switched back to old phone, no luck. Any thoughts?

Did you update your phone number in Gmail? You may have to log in on another previously trusted device and change the phone number to your new one.
I didn't change phone number, just switched device.
OK, I wasn't sure from your original post. Hmmm..., whenever I set up an android phone where the 2-step phone # is the same phone I'm setting up it automagically recognized the SMS message upon receipt.
Sim card issue?
But he is getting SMS from fecesbook.
