VPN Connecton Managed by AT&T

All of a sudden last night I had a notification pop up from the AT&T Mobiles Security ap that says "Your VPN connection is managed by ATT". I don't know where it came from or how to make it go away. I've never set up a VPN on the phone, and I had not configured anything in AT&T Mobile Security until after I saw the message and went in to it in order to figure out what was up.

Can anyone explain why I have this message and how to make it go away other than turning off notifications for the ap?

Same issue here (S9+). Today is the first time I am seeing it.

My wifes LG V35 got the message as well but mine didn't. I just force stopped ATT mobile security and it went away

Yeah, the AT&T Mobile Security app updated on the 11th and this popped up for a lot of (irritated) users.

Since AT&T has a lot of open networks for customers, I guess they thought it would be good to automatically initiate a VPN and then brag about it to every user. I hope the marketing department is patting themselves on the back in the unemployment line. ;)

I had this exact same issue on my Galaxy S9 from AT&T. This morning, a stupid notification saying "Your VPN connection is managed by ATT" popped up.

The stupid ass notification won't disappear! I never asked for this feature. Even after re-boot the notification is still stuck there permanently. What a bunch of idiots.

Just uninstall or disable the AT&T mobile security app and you'll be fine. It's crap, anyway.

Go to
-settings
-Apps
Then select "AT&T mobile seucrity"
Then Go to "Notifications" And turn it off.
DONE

All that will do is hide the notification. That app could still be doing stuff behind the scenes, and I'd prefer to be aware. I'll probably just remove it, but feel safer with some kind of security running.
