Is there a way to get rid of previous system updates?

With my Samsung Galaxy Amp Prime, I keep having to switch out apps in order to install new ones. I'm already transferring every photo and video to Google Photos and all the audio I have to Google drive and deleting the previous copies off my phone. Plus any extra files I have go on my SD card along with any app that will move over. I even use the device maintenance feature to clear space and boost my phone, but sometimes that don't even help. Still my phone says that I need to clear space or that I'm dangerously low on space.
I need help.

The subject line of the post isn't related to the content, I'm afraid.

I guess you were thinking that the phone keeps all of the updates, using up space, but that's not how it works. There is only one system, and each update replaces part or all of the previous one. So there is nothing to get rid of. Also the system lives in a separate storage partition from your apps, so even if you could free up space in that partition it wouldn't provide any more space for your apps.

If you are already keeping what you can on SD, then the problem is either that some of your apps are using a lot of space (try seeing how much data they are storing: you should be able to tell from the system's apps menu) or that the phone just doesn't have enough storage for the way that you want to use it and the apps you want to install. You can get temporary relief by clearing caches (browsers and social media apps love to cache hundreds of MB of data), but that will only be temporary.

just to clarify an issue that's a common misconception, but are those warning messages referring specifically to low storage space or just something like low memory? There are some who don't distinguish storage memory with RAM (Random Access Memory), the issue being the two are different types of memory and serve different purposes. Please state just how the message is worded.

After looking up the specs on your Amp Prime, it apparently has 16GB of internal storage (adequate for general usage) but only 1.5GB of RAM (debatable as being too minimal for most people). If the former, than there could be steps for you to take to free up more internal storage but if the latter, the RAM is a fixed amount in a smartphone so you're only options are to either upgrade to a newer, more capable phone or lower your expectations and just keep using your phone with its inherent memory limitation.

The Galaxy J3 was sold as the Amp Prime through Cricket and came in two models. One with 8GB/1.5 GB ram and one with 16GB/2GB ram. I'm going to assume Courtney has the first one. That's not a whole lot of resources especially if you run huge apps like Facebook or Instagram.

@Courtney Miller that's a hardware limitation and there's really no fix for it other than a.) removing apps or b.) getting a better phone. Sorry. :(

Thank you all for your help. I appreciate it.
As for my phone, I've got the 16gb with an 3.7 gb SD card inside.
I've got 156 kb in documents, 0 kb in images, audio, and videos, and 4.2 gb in apps. My SD card is 515 mb out of 3.7 gb.
As for my phone's memory, it has 1.5 gb.
