Android 8 and Nova Launcher

I have a new SG A7 mobile using Android 8 which has just had a short software update. This or the original version (I'm not sure) has prevented me creating shortcuts of websites I regularly visit on Chrome and wanted to save for re-use. I could perform this fine on my previous phones both using Android 6 & 7. The phone was a SG S6 which started as Android 6 and got updated to Android 7. At all times the launcher was Nova. So when I got my new SG A7 I copied the launcher over with all my other apps. The shortcuts didn't transfer so I set about re-making them. There is a problem between Nova Launcher and Android 8 and it just isn't possible to create them on any screen. You can set up a folder which will read Bookmarked, Mobile and other bookmarked favourites from your Chrome desktop by finding the Chrome shortcut Widget and putting that on a separate page. When I reverted to the default launcher 'Samsung experience home' all the shortcuts I tried to creat were there spanning 10 pages. I don't like the default launcher so I need to figure out how to get then into a folder on my front screen using Nova as my launcher. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks.

Been doing Launcher Lab, you can edit anything on the desktop, but you cannot access widgets and add them, that is so funny, maybe deals with just adding new screens?

Can't you just save the website in Chrome as "save to desktop"? And once you have many on screen just drag the icon to another that'll create the folder for all of the links?
Thanks for your suggestion. Sorry I'm not techie enough to understand it properly.
