Good day, i would like to know why it is possible to access the drop down menu on a android device after it has been locked, it allows for any external person to disable Internet connection aswel as disabling location, which ultimately when your phone is lost u might m not be able to track or locate your device

Easy its not locked, its unlocked, you can probably toy around . Have you tried to power down and booting it back up?

When u wake the device up, going from the sleep state to the unlock screen or booting it up from the off state, u can drag down the scroll down menu and access a whole range of settings.

Milo thank you for your help. here isnt anything wrong with my device, but there is a security issue with all android devices and I'm trying to find out how to disable the scroll down menu when my device is locked.

Its a feature probably, nothing I can do without much, please explain what type of phone you have, what kind of model.

What the Operation System is...

I have a Nokia 8 sirocco, running on oreo.
All android devices I've come across has the same issue, now I'm not sure why it isn't addressed because it means any Tom, Dick and Harry can now disable settings even if your phone is locked. So it actually makes Google locate absolutely useless because whoever steals your phone can just disable WiFi conn. Mobile conn and loacation. Hope u understand where I'm heading with this post

Not mine at all while running and I do not have a phone lock though. Let the experts help you out on here.

The observation is correct, and it is a stupid feature.

If fact Google have made a very limited attempt at security: if I try to turn my mobile data off it will ask for a PIN. But it's a typical poorly thought through Google attempt because you can activate airplane mode.

All I can suggest is removing sensitive settings from the quick settings pulldown. And complain to the self-satisfied morons at Google (who rarely listen to anyone).

I have in the mean time removed Internet Conn, wifi Conn and location from the menu. But I see I can still put the phone off even if it is locked, thanx for the advice Hadron

Unless you are going to use one of those horrible, bulky, lockable "security" cases (if they still make them) there's always a way of taking a phone off the network. Nothing you can do about that. There's just no need to make it easy, which this feature does.

My older HTC didn't allow this, but Google seem to value convenience higher (and inconvenience if someone accidentally toggles airplane mode in their pocket, which this would make possible).
