I have an old camcorder that stored files as a .mod file. I am trying to convert the files to a .mov or .mp4 so I can play them on my AT&T S5. Most all of the software is trial version and will only convert 1/3-1/2 of total file. Any way to get around having to purchase the software? I only have a handful of files that I want to convert and 90% of them are less than 2 minutes long

I'm afraid that as the forum rules forbid discussion of software piracy we cannot discuss ways of bypassing restrictions in trial software.

However, that doesn't seem necessary anyway. Entering the search string ".mod file converter free" into Google brought up a number of links to freeware apps or free services which claim to be able to convert such files. I can't make a recommendation because I've never used any of them, but there seem to be a number of options you can try.

Good luck :)

You could use an online converter, this is the one i use,

http://www.online-convert.com/

Hope this helps.

So you recorded your experience yourself. Even 5 years ago you could convert them to whatever you want.

Well i don't understand your coment but you got the record part right. In the 90s i was learing assembly lanuage and coded a program to play .mod files and as i remember were apple format and would not play on windows. So i would start the recorder then play the .mod file and save it as something else. He said it was an old camcorder and i've never knew there was a .mod video format. I tried a couple apps that say they will convert a file but they use an online converter, one of them used the site i recomended.
