Help New pop up notifications with Android Pie update

Meghana R

Hi all,

My Galaxy S9 recently updated to Android Pie and the One UI. So far, I'm loving it, but I have these pesky notification bubbles (much like Facebook Messenger) for frequently used apps such as Gmail, Textra (my SMS replacement), and WhatsApp. Screenshots attached. I can't for the life of me figure out how they came to be or how to get rid of them. I've scoured the internet and all the settings on my phone and have found absolutely nothing. I'm really hoping someone can help me out. Even just knowing what they're called can help me properly search the internet.

Many thanks in advance!
Meghana

The only thing that happens with a long press is a little trash can icon appears at the top with the word "Remove" beneath it. If I drag that particular bubble over to the trash, it just disappears from the screen, but not the status bar Thus it is equivalent to "Leave unread"
