I use Maildroid Pro for emails. It has the ability to assign different sounds to different senders. This worked on my HTC phone. And it works on my LG V40 except when I'm using an app other than Maildroid. Then instead of using the Notification volume setting (loud), it uses the Music, video, games and others settings (low). Any ideas why or what can be done? Unfortunately, support has become unreliable. So until I find a replacement, please help.
Thanks

Can't address the Maildroid issue, exactly, but I'm still twerking notification settings on mine. On my older phones they simply had notification settings, basically on or off. Seems like the V40 has settings within the settings in addition to the individual app settings.

Could you repeat that in English? LOL

android 8.1, I think changes the notifications to have more settings - so you can now tailor your notification permissions on an APP by APP basis and in some cases even the aps have different settings too.

TLDR - Notification settings got more complicated.

Specific to your issue - when did maildroid get it's last update? Was it maybe in the days of Android 5? If so it might be that they used notification sounds - instead of notification tones. Distinction - back in the day (2011 or so) some mobiles still had one volume for ringer and one for music - some has just one in total. Such that often the ringer volume was also your notification volume. etc fast forward. So to provide more options - some apps used a music output as their notifications so your media volume would set them - and so it's bing would punch though your music when you listened tunes on your mobile.

So you might have a unique issue where your app is just too far in the past. Sorry.

ALso it might be a setting in the app itself. I've never used it so I can't help there.

Meanwhile - for consolidated e-mail systems I've not nothing. I actually keep my 3 accounts very seperate, one is yahoo. to the point where I don't want them blended. As I push my spam off to ________. for example if I'm at a car dealer and they want my e-mail but I know full well I'm not buying a car just shopping. If they get too pushy - I'm giving them email ________.

I don't' want to see them all in one place.

I have a few email addresses for the same reason. Unfortunately, Maildroid's last update was June 2018, but there is still a definite problem with its notification system. I was hoping for an easy fix but no such luck. I have a few "must haves" in an email app and trying one at a time is a pain. I'm trying something new. I'm sending an email to an app's support address explaining my situation and needs. I figure if they answer, then their support is good. No answer = no support so I move on. I think it's worth a try. Time will tell.

Good luck - I specifically use Gmail and Yahoo mail - separately. they work fine for their purpose - since it's really just a dedicated web view.

Thanks Napalm. I'm thinking you did a better job of interpretation of my comment than I could. The notification settings, in Android 8, do get detailed and involved.

Is Maildroid even working anymore? The reviews in the play store keep saying it's no longer supported.

I have the paid version and I couldn't even get it working. I couldn't add my Gmail account. Got a message saying "Sign in with Google temporarily disabled for this app"

Unfortunately, the developer has stopped replying to emails. I have the paid version also. I've got it working for Gmail and a POP3. There could be a problem with your Gmail settings. I can't remember where it is, but Gmail has a security setting. Turned on, you have to use Maildroid's Authentication Token. I let Maildroid automatically setup my Gmail account. Then went into Maildroid's "Manage Accounts". Make sure your password is correct then check "Use Token". Maildroid takes care of the rest. Finish the setup and you should be ok. These instructions probably aren't exact, but close. I apologize but I have a short term memory problem. If you run into problems, post back and I'll try to be more helpful.
