Any problems with screen breaking?

One of the reasons I chose the Moto Z² Force Edition was its "guaranteed shatterproof" screen. Because of that, I haven't done what I normally do with a new device--put it in an Otterbox Defender Case.

But, you know...I just feel uneasy about it.

I'm historically very careful with my devices, and I really can't recall an incident where catastrophe was averted by the case it was in.

If you're using your Z² without a case, how's it going? Any cracks or scratches or anything on its screen?

I've been debating getting a Defender case since the day I got the phone 3(?) months ago. Should I just do it? I like the slim, light feel of the case-less phone, but I don't know...

The phone is great. It's biggest weakness is the front "shield" that is of very soft plastic. It chips easily on the edgers when you drop it and over time the screen looks rather raged.

It is my understanding that I could send it back to Motorola and they would repair it at no cost. Of course I would have to go through the proves of sending it.

This is in my opinion the only shortcoming of a truly great phone.

The Moto Z3 has the same specs as the Moto Z2 Fore except for the shatterproof guarantee. I have debated a long time doing the upgrade (side grade?),

I've read that from Gorilla 5 you are pretty safe, even more with Gorilla 6, a gel case is enough for most of people. But if you are a prudent or very active person, better have a tempered glass installed.

Update: I decided to go ahead and buy a case. I added an Otterbox Defender Case to my cart on Amazon, and waited a couple days because I thought I needed some other stuff, too. Well, when I went back two days later, its price had jumped from ≈$21 to $49.99 (the same as on otterbox.com).

This pissed me off. :( I've paid full price for other Otterbox Defenders, but this just made me mad--$28 increase in two days?!

So I searched Amazon looking for similar cases, and ended up buying this COVRWARE Aegis Series case--for TEN BUCKS! :) $9.99 to be precise.

We just put it on the phone a minute ago, so now I'm getting used to its touch, which isn't BAD, it's just not super-sensitive like the phone alone.

The case fits well and has all the appropriate cutouts and plugs.

No idea at this point how this cheap knockoff will compare to what I'm used to...but for $10...it's all good. :D

Well the number of times I accidently dropped my phone a few feet, like on an uneven surface, I have yet cracked my screen off the phone itself. I am as well that too :)

I have like a rubber case to switch out mods, its been at least a good soild run and no cracks so far. :)

I haven't cracked a screen since my very first smartphone...and it WASN'T a result of dropping it. Long story...

Lesson learned, however, and starting with the phone that replaced that one, I've had Otterbox Defender Cases on everything, including my tablet. So using this phone naked for a few months was weird!

I might want an otterbox for my tablet, but seeing there is little things to do over on the left side of my comp, then I will probably not want it though, it should be safe and not being able to leave the room, besides I got a cell I always take with me.
