Help ZTE N9137 Google Dialer Favorites

vgt

Newbie
Hello,
I don't like the Favorites screen because there is no spot that a touch doesn't place a call when all I want to do is scroll. Running android 7.1.1. What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to empty the Favorites screen? I can add numbers to the speed dial whereby I press and hold a number on the keypad to dial a number. The Favorites screen is actually faster than the speed dial to place a call, except that it is often too easy. I thought the Favorites was the speed dial and I will just empty it!

Thank you.

I have already been in the app settings menu.

I wish the Favorites had a similar delay as I find in the speed dial -- long-press the 1 to reach voicemail. I should long-press the Front Desk in Favcorites to dial it. A short press and drag should safely scroll. That would also lessen the chance that I call someone just from a touch while fumbling the phone.

.

Twice I hung up on a call in progress and placed another one to the party whose button is under my finger when the hang-up completes. I am placing the phone in standby only to hear someone answer the phone!

The Groups icons are unnecessarily big when I am looking in a Group, say Family, Too many icons there for me to see them all and I touch off a phone call while trying to scroll. Here smaller icons ans in Contacts and a small touch-and-hold to allow touch-and-drag to scroll.

Provide a way to hide Coworkers, classmates, family and friends auto-generated groups. I do not need them. I have already created what I need. Otherwise provide the means to rename or delete what I don't need.

Place the hot spot for each key touch in a box. [2ABC] [3DEF]. I have hit centered on the 3 and have dialed a 2. Now I know to hit right of the digit centered between the brackets as I show at the start of this paragraph.

These feature changes would make for a great dialer.

Incoming calls should be answered all the time in the same way. I take the grey handset and drag down to the green one on the lock screen,, on an idle home screen and should be answered over top of an app in exactly the same way. Provide options to put it back the way it is if so desired.

I have looked at a few apps, but wouldn't it be nice if they all offered a side-by-side screen shot!

You are touching rather than scrolling. That's what you are doing wrong.

When I want to scroll I just swipe up or down. That's different from a touch and doesn't trigger anything. You don't need to place your finger and then start moving, just swipe.

As for the list of "how things should be" in your second post, you need to direct them to Google, not us: there's nothing we can do about Google's apps.

However:

This is not at all how it behaves on my phone: for me the "cross-over" point between 2 keys is precisely in the middle of them. I don't know whether this is Google not testing with your model, a bug in ZTE's firmware, or a fault in your individual phone, but it's not the case that the app has an intrinsic problem with the hotspot placements.

I do have a problem with touch-and-swipe. I kept calling people whenever I tapped something on the screen --

In my old Coolpad phonje I came across a "Call Confirm" app that captured any screen touch that would otherwise immediately dial the phone, and ask me to confirm.

THAT saved me many times, and let me learn where to touch or try to scroll without starting a dialing.

I would love to find one suited with Android 7.1.1.

Thank you for your answer Hadron.
