Well that's what those services are, to find friends and dates in your area. You register, enter your details with your town, city, province, postcode.etc. And their premise is to match you with others in your area, near you.

Facebook has many local social groups, where people can meet up and make friends.

Back in the day you'd probably join a local singles club or social club. Maybe they still exist? Or just go to a bar or nightclub or something?
