Windows app for exploring android devices on pc

Sunlich

Newbie
Hi,

Novice with Android and Linux OS - no xperience at all.

Wang to find out what's the easiest/useful Windows 10 app for exploring connected usb Android smartphones .

I want to be able to look around and copy files from the smartphone to Windows pc.

Are there any which function like win explorer/ simple and easy navigation etc.

The only ones I've seen so far are Linux command line - DOSbox like which I find annoying to use as very little knowledge about the commands available on Linux OS.

Any suggestions will be helpful.

Also any recommendations for Linux OS for beginners/idiots. Either books or available online.

Thanks, Sunlich 👽

Please note I only use Linux, but there are numerous ways to do what you want. As I understand it, your default windows file manager should detect your Android device if it's connected via cable, and you've selected the correct USB setting.

If you'd rather not muck with physical connections, and their obvious limitations, you have several choices.

You can use Airdroid, which simply requires your computer and device be on the same Wi-Fi network. You can explore the phone from the computer, up- and download files, etc.

My go-to method depends on having all my computers networked. Then I use a file manager on Android to share files with my computers. The computers' drives, including external ones, just appear like regular directories on my device.

Well, if you're interested in trying Linux on your computer(s), my favorite distro is Kubuntu. It's endlessly customizable--and if you think using Linux means struggling with cryptic commands at a prompt, have I got news for you! Modern Linux is stunningly beautiful and, with rare...rare exceptions, need never involve seeing a command line.

Here's a glimpse at my main laptop. The splash screen I've chosen for booting up:

I always set my number of desktops to nine, and use a cube for navigating to them:

Tilted up so you can see the other desktops:

I switched my mom to Linux when she was ≈80, and she loved it. :D

I'm a little confused. There are 2 lines in your post where you seem to be asking for help with Windows:

But the rest seems to be asking for help with Linux:

So which is it?

For Windows, as others have said your Windows Explorer itself will do what you want.

For Linux, well actually I prefer terminal interfaces so I may not be able to help. But have you not tried your default graphical file browser? Which app that is will depend on which distribution you are using, but they virtually all come with one.

Thanks for all your replies to my post.
It's has helped clear up alot of my blank knowledge and the anxieties my autism generates.

I won't need any more input for this.
Thank you all
