Had the phone a couple months and suddenly double tap on feature quit working. Any suggestions?

A soft reset is simply a reboot, so you shouldn't lose anything.

Any other suggestions? Soft reset didn't work, can't find the problem.

Try clearing the app cache, whatever app is your 'double tap' app.
If that is still a no-go, then try deleting the data on the app and starting it all over.
If this is a built in system function, it may or may not be controlled with an app.
If all else fails, try WaveUp, which allows multiple ways to turn the screen on and off by using the proximity sensor.
My power button is on the fritz, so I use WaveUp all the time.

Hmm, I don't believe I have a dbl tap app. It's an LG phone, I understood this to be a feature rather than an add on. Really not sure, I'll look.
