Root No more OTG - Use any network share as mounted drive!

Hi Mike, that's awesome!
I'm trying to do the same, on 2020 with my rooted phone. What tools did you use?

Make sure the HDD is in a format that Android can read, which is FAT32, or EXFAT for recent Android versions. Many HDDs come formatted as Windows NTFS, which Android by itself can't mount and read.

My HDD is a WD Passport 4TB portable, EXFAT formatted, and I just use an USB-OTG cable. However not all phones can supply enough power to spin a HDD, My Huawei Mate 10 does, but I found a Samsung Galaxy S7 can't. If the HDD had a auxiliary power supply, it may work with the Samsung then. Of course I don't keep a HDD permanently connected to my phone, it's only periodically to transfer videos, etc.

I also have a Matedock 2 which is powered from any type-C USB charger, which also allows Huawei phones to connect to HDDs by USB and to still be charging. It also has HDMI and VGA out as well, which I found useful sometimes. And with a monitor, keyboard, and a mouse connected, it effectively becomes an Android desktop computer. :D

There's a standard USB port on the rear.
